Welcome to AskBharat AI. AskBharat AI is a multilingual Indian government data chatbot that provides verified information from government APIs in 11 Indian languages.

This Privacy Policy explains how Eteroni Pvt Ltd ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our website and mobile application. Contact us at askbharatai@gmail.com for any questions.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly:

• Google account information (name, email, photo) obtained via Google Sign-In.
• Language preference.
• Location information (state and district) — user selected OR device location if permitted.
• Profile information: Profession, age group, gender, social category (optional), annual household income range (optional).
• Chat messages and voice queries you submit.

2.2 Information collected automatically:

• Device type and operating system.
• Browser type and version.
• IP address (anonymised after 24 hours).
• App usage patterns and feature interactions.
• Error logs and performance data.

2.3 Information we do NOT collect:

• Actual audio recordings (voice is converted to text and audio is discarded).
• Precise GPS coordinates (only state/district).
• Financial account details.
• Aadhaar or government ID numbers.
• Biometric data of any kind.

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 To provide the service:

• Authenticate your identity via Google Sign-In.
• Personalise government scheme recommendations based on your profile (profession, location etc).
• Process your queries and return government data.
• Remember your language and location preferences.

3.2 To improve the service:

• Analyse which queries are most common.
• Improve AI response accuracy.
• Fix bugs and improve performance.

We process your data under the following legal bases compliant with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA):

• Consent: obtained during onboarding.
• Legitimate interest: improving service quality.
• Legal obligation: compliance with Indian law.

Under India's DPDPA 2023, you have rights as a Data Principal including the right to access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, erase your data (right to be forgotten), withdraw consent at any time, and nominate someone to exercise rights on your behalf.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

5.1 Government APIs (data.gov.in, MyScheme.gov.in):

We send your query text to these APIs. We do NOT send your personal profile data. These are Indian government services.

5.2 OpenAI / Sarvam AI:

Your query text is processed by these AI services. We do not send your name, email, or profile. Queries are processed and not stored by these services beyond their standard retention policies. Links to their privacy policies can be found on their respective platforms.

5.3 Google OAuth:

We receive only: name, email, profile photo. We do not receive or store your Google password. Google's data handling: policies.google.com/privacy.

5.4 We may disclose data if:

• Required by Indian law or court order.
• To protect safety of users or public.
• With your explicit written consent.

6. Data Retention

• Chat messages: 90 days then auto-deleted.
• User profile: Until account deletion requested.
• Voice queries: Audio never stored — text only, treated same as chat messages.
• Usage logs: 30 days.
• IP addresses: Anonymised after 24 hours.

• All data encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS 1.3).
• Database encrypted at rest (Supabase AES-256).
• Google OAuth — we never see your password.
• Row Level Security on all database tables (you can only access your own data).
• Regular security reviews.
• Breach notification within 72 hours as required by DPDPA 2023.

8. Children's Privacy

AskBharat AI is available to users of all ages including those under 18.

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You can at any time:

• Access your data: Settings → My Profile shows all stored data.
• Correct your data: Settings → My Profile → Edit any field.
• Delete your data: Settings → Delete Account. Removes all personal data within 30 days. Chat history deleted immediately.
• Export your data: Emailaskbharatai@gmail.com with subject "Data Export Request — askbharatai@gmail.com". We respond within 30 days.
• Withdraw consent: Sign out and delete account. Stops all data processing immediately.
• Opt out of analytics: Settings → Privacy → Usage Analytics → Off.

10. Cookies and Local Storage

We use:

• Session cookies: required for login (httpOnly, secure).
• localStorage: language and district preferences only (no personal data, no tracking).

We do NOT use:

• Advertising cookies.
• Cross-site tracking.
• Third-party analytics cookies (no Google Analytics).
• Fingerprinting.

11. Voice and Microphone

When you use voice input:

• Microphone is accessed only when you tap the mic button.
• Audio is processed by your device's built-in Web Speech API (not sent to our servers).
• Only the text transcript is sent to our servers.
• Audio recording is never stored anywhere.
• You can revoke microphone permission any time in your browser/device settings.

12. Location Data

We request location only when you tap "Use my location" during onboarding:

• We identify your state and district only.
• Precise GPS coordinates are not stored.
• Location is used only to pre-fill the district field.
• You can always select location manually instead.
• You can revoke location permission any time.

13. Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of material changes by:

• Email to your registered address.
• In-app notification when you next open AskBharat AI.
• Updated "Last Modified" date at the top of this page.

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy. If you disagree, please delete your account and stop using the service.

This policy is governed by the laws of India. Disputes subject to jurisdiction of courts in [your city].
